The Community Foundation’s Board of Directors are always generously serving their community. Check out this spotlight on our Board Treasurer, Dr. Sheila Williamson-Branch!Dr. Sheila Williamson-Branch first became involved with service and volunteerism after returning home from college in 1984, eagerly joining a few community organizations to give back to the community where she grew up. ![]()

Since then, she has been involved in public service for more than 25 years and is the outgoing Vice Chair of the Governor’s Advisory Board on Service and Volunteerism, having served as a Board member since 2018. Additionally, she is a member of The Danville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and The Danville Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. “Being involved with these organizations in my community allows me to continually serve others who are in need,” says Sheila.![]()

During its 2024 Competitive Grant Cycle, The Community Foundation awarded a total of $904,688 in new grants to 64 nonprofit agencies serving the region. These grants are supporting animal services, arts and culture, community development, health and wellness, education and youth, human services, and emergency services.
